Career and Life Planning Summer Boot Camps

This summer, we are hosting a range of workshops, focusing on career exploration and development, throughout July and August. These workshops are designed to help students explore career pathways, gain insight into what employers look for and how to tailor their skills for career opportunities.

If you are or know of a student, from grades 7 to 12, these workshops will help to ensure students feel empowered to make informed and inspired career choices. These sessions are an opportunity to gain more knowledge and skills in career planning and development, provide insights from industry connections, and access to our invaluable resources and interactive experiences, such as our Virtual Reality program offering a first-person perspective into the skilled trades.

In addition to these workshops, our facilitators and coaches are available for one-on-one and small group coaching during office hours.

These free sessions are available to students across Ontario and will take place primarily over Zoom, except for in-person sessions on July 18th and August 27th. Zoom links for the sessions will be sent out to workshop participants prior to session dates.

Hear from students who have participated in past sessions:

“Attending the HIEC presentations has been very helpful in my learning. Some of the presentations helped me understand what experiential learning opportunities are available in high school. I know what the different sectors are and I feel more confident in course selection for my pathway going forward.”- Gr 11 student

“I didn’t know that the trades could be a cool career option. This helped me understand my interests, skills and values so that I could make better choices for my future.” – Gr 10 student

“I learned how to search for jobs and see what the requirements are needed. There are so many jobs that I never knew existed and now I know how to research and learn about wages, skills and what pathway I need to follow in order to do that job.” – Gr 8 student
