Beyond the Bell: March Break In-person Career Exploration Workshops for Students


This March Break, students across the region are invited to explore their interests, discover new career pathways, and build confidence in their future at the Ontario Career Lab.

Powered by the HIEC, the Ontario Career Lab delivers career development programming across industries and pathways—bringing exploration, connection, and confidence to learners of all ages.

To help students make the most of their time off school, the Ontario Career Lab will be offering two engaging in-person workshops during March Break at its Burlington location. Students in Grades 9–12 are invited to participate in hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and meaningful career conversations with industry professionals.

Workshop Details

Burlington, Ontario

Dates:

  • Tuesday, March 17, 2026 – Career Awareness Program (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
  • Thursday, March 19, 2026 – Personality Dimensions (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Who Should Attend:
Students in Grades 9–12

What to Bring:
Students are encouraged to bring a laptop. Devices can be provided if needed.

Bonus:
A pizza lunch will be provided for all participants.

 

Tuesday, March 17 – Career Awareness Program

Students will take part in the Career Awareness Program, designed to help them explore future possibilities by connecting their personal strengths with real-world career opportunities.

Participants will:

  • Identify their skills, interests, and values
  • Explore industries that align with their strengths
  • Learn about skilled trades and apprenticeship pathways
  • Try hands-on trade activities
  • Engage in career conversations with professionals
  • Discover and challenge common career myths

This interactive session helps students better understand the many pathways available after high school.

 

Thursday, March 19 – Personality Dimensions

Through the Personality Dimensions assessment, students will gain valuable insight into their personal strengths and communication styles.

Participants will learn to:

  • Recognize their unique blend of strengths and qualities
  • Understand and appreciate differences in others
  • Improve interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Apply self-awareness to career exploration
  • Engage in career conversations with professionals

This workshop helps students build self-awareness—an important foundation for career and life decisions.
