HIEC
YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Our goal at HIEC is to develop and implement community-based educational initiatives and programs that will help students plan for their future. We can’t do that without hearing directly from young people about what they need to confidently create a career path that will take them from elementary and secondary school to post-secondary opportunities, and ultimately to the workforce.

That’s where the HIEC Youth Advisory Committee comes in to help!

We need the perspectives and opinions of young people in order to bridge the gap between education and industry. We want to create a committee that reflects the diversity of the student community within Halton: we welcome different schools, ages, inspirations and ambitions. Students in grades nine to twelve from the Halton District and Halton Catholic District schoolboards are invited to apply for this incredible leadership opportunity.

As a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Serve as representatives of the Halton student body, informing us about the needs of youth and advising us on future programs, events and services.
  • Help organize youth conferences with other organizations committed to furthering career education.
  • Speak on behalf of HIEC at various youth leadership conferences and events.

For students who want to make their opinions, questions and ideas heard – we’re ready to listen.
