HIEC Celebrates 17 Years! Connecting with All Four Generations

Celebrating a year filled with successful business, education and community partnerships, the Halton Industry Education Council (HIEC) held its annual Spring Breakfast with the Mayors. The event held on Thursday June 21st, at the Burlington Convention Centre brought together students, parents, educators and business/industry representatives. Illustrating the benefits of experimental learning, the attendees gained knowledge from the student panel who shared their positive experiences and involvement in the programs.

Keynote Speaker, Managing partner of n-gen, Giselle Kovary leads and designs strategic change initiatives to improve organizational and people performance. With so much emphasis on changing workforce demographics Giselle spoke to discuss the themes surrounding the shrinking labour pool and the multi-generational office. Drawing on many of the issues central to HIEC's FutureForce Halton initiative, Giselle provided insight into how leaders can manage the differences among the four generations in the workplace - Traditionalist, Baby Boomer, Gen X and Gen Y- and maximize those unique behaviours to create an engaged workforce.
